Who is Kris Becker?
My name is Kris Becker and I drag race motorcycles. I started racing over 10 years ago after helping my husband tune and race his Nitro Dragster, which helped him win several West Coast Championships.
Together we own and operate Northcoast Thunderbikes in Everett, Washington, which is an after-market high performance motorcycle facility. We do a lot of custom and high-end performance, in addition to building our race bikes, but our bread and butter is the daily rider, the person who needs a quart of oil or a new chain. We have two factory-trained mechanics on duty and offer full service for Harley Davidson Motorcycles and have a great selection of parts & accessories in stock and ready to go.
I won my first drag race, riding my 1979 FX in a race in Sturgis, SD, in 1990. By 1993 I was campaigning the first "PMS Express" - an extremely hot XL that was built by Custom Chrome, Inc and purchased by Northcoast Thunderbikes to race in the west coast series with the All Harley Drag Racing Association (AHDRA). I earned the #2 plate for the West Coast in 1993.
In 1995 I switched from gas to Nitro Methane, trading in a hot street bike for a lay-down drag bike. I also won my first AHDRA drag race as a fuel pilot, at the Northwest Nationals in Woodburn, Oregon, where I became the first woman in the history of the AI-IDRA to win a fuel class.
In 1998 I won my first CMDRA race and became the first woman to win a fuel class in this organization, plus I held the Number 2 plate in Pro Fuel for the season.
In the year 2000 I traded in my comfortable 122 inch Pro Fuel bike for a 150 cubic inch Top Fuel Bike and in June I became the first woman in the history of the AHDRA to attempt to qualify in Top Fuel.
I'm still on the learning curve for the Top Fuel bike and am very excited about 2001. Our season starts in Phoenix at Firebird the weekend of March 30 and April 1. Hope to see you there.
